Real-Time sensing and control in AR
The popularity of IoT devices and smart homes is rapidly increasing, and yet we still haven’t come to a widely-accepted
decision about how best to interact with them. The benefits
of connecting everyday devices with the internet offers
limited access to the services provided by these devices. As
such, our dependence on physical interfaces restricts direct user interaction and hinders device discovery in an environment.
Although current mixed reality technology has opened
doors for new user interaction models with an interplay of virtual
and physical spaces yet it has few limitations; the device
specific user interfaces discourage discovery and interaction,
vendor-specific platforms and standards provide limited control
interfaces, and nearby device discovery via web services
does not scale. There is a need to create technologies that
enable smart, seamless, and secure user interaction with the
physical world.
